Yeah. There are people debating if this will get produced at all, and if so, whether it will make it to theaters.
Though, you can't balme 20th century, and universal pulling out. (Though, I do not approve them waiting till the last minute) After all, they were expecting a budget of 200 million bucks. ANd this is a video game movie, a breed of movies that has dedicated itself to totally stinking, and becoming a flop. Especially with the DOOM movie and everything.
Though, Halo is difficult to judge on whether or not it will do well. On one hand, video game movies almost always stink, and almost always bomb, while on the other hand, Halo has always been more about plot than other games, (and I don't think I've met a single person that has played halo more than once and isn't interested in the story.) and halo ahs made more money than any ohter game in history.
Difficult to say at this point whether we'll be sitting in theaters in 2008/2009 watching the thing. After all, the halo movie had troubles finding a distributer since bungie and microsoft started to try and get the halo movie out there, and now that they've lost the only two studios that supported them, it seems doubtful they'll find any more.
Microsoft, however, claims they are searching and are dedicated to getting this movie out. But really, does microsoft really need some big studio to finance it? Last time I checked microsoft was pretty rich....like, 30-60 billion dollar rich.
